Of course, having a credit card offers you the convenience and security not most payment methods offer but of course, there is a limit to which you can use your credit card at its best. Here are some credit card mistakes that you wouldn't want to ever have to deal with.

There is really no exact answer to the question of how many credit cards is too many. Usually, most people are satisfied with having 2-5 credit cards. But of course, too much of something is not a good thing. Just get the credit cards that you will need and stop from there. Having too many cards only gives you more chances of debts piling up and having too many cards to keep track of. And since having too many cards increases the chance of having a bad credit, lenders will lead to question your stability when it comes to handling money.

Another mistake that most cardholders commit is not being able to fully understand the introductory rates. Most credit cards have introductory rates which lasts for awhile. Low introductory rates are definitely appealing but once it reverts back to its original rate, you would be surprised at how high it can be. Ask the credit card issuer about all of their rates before applying.

Depending on the type of credit card, each card has its own features. You don't want to choose a card for the wrong reasons. Instead, find the card that is right for you. Ask around and compare each type of credit card. Keep in mind that credit cards are there for your convenience and that they are to be paid off every month. Having too many cards means having to pay to many debts every now and then if you fail to pay them on time.

It is still best to pay your balances on time but if by some chance you fail to pay on time, be prepared for the added interest. Keep in mind that by paying late, your record of credit will also be affected. Always take note of your due date to be able to pay your balances on time. Cardholders sometimes neglect to check their credit card statement and this is a big NO-NO. Check your billing statements to make sure that all charges are done by you and computed accordingly. Because if you don't and there is an error on your account, it will be then too late to even charge a dispute.

Aside from the common mistakes mentioned above, another thing that most cardholders commit is exceeding their credit limit. Some people tend to just shop and shop and charge it to their credit cards. Most of the time, you end up buying things you don't really need. Budgeting your money is very important. Not only will you be able to buy the things you want and be able to pay for them, but at the same time, you don't have to worry about any debts to pay.

Follow these simple measures and never worry about having to deal with these blunders.

(Wesley Gordon is a 42-year old Online Marketing Director for a Payment Processing Industry.
